...but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. Joshua 1:8
While at Bible study yesterday, the leader pointed something out to us. God calls us to meditate. We sometimes shudder at the word because of what we think that means. Many false religions tell you to meditate by emptying your mind of all things and let "god" speak to you. This is not what the Lord calls us to do when we meditate. Yes, we may need to clear our heads of distractions, but we are to fill our heads with His word in order to meditate on it. It is through His word that He will speak to us.
Here are some things I was reading today:
Matthew 4:22
"Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him."
Yep, no ifs, ands, or buts, just complete obedience. Oh, I wish I could say that I obey this way. (in this passage, Jesus is calling some of his disciples to follow him. The Scriptures tell us that they left immediately. They left their jobs, their father. They didn't stop to make plans or to finish up the day's work; they just followed Him.)
Micah 7:18-19
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgressions for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because He delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast out our sins into the depths of the sea.
Thanks be to God!
