Birthday Week

I got this idea from Taylor. It goes something like this: "get your birthday presents and do some really cool things the entire week of your birthday." It works well for Micah because he really gets annoyed when he can't just play with his toy because he has to keep opening, and it works well for us because we get to see him get really excited about the one surprise we give him. On Saturday night, we took the boys to the zoo for member night. It is a night every couple of months where the zoo stays open late for members only. Micah has been asking for a couple of weeks for the whole family to go to the zoo, so when he woke from his nap, he was so happy to get in the car. There was an old time string band that Micah loved, zoo keeper talks at all the animals, and lastly the boys played in this cage with styrofoam type blocks that they could jump on. They had a blast. On the way home, the lights were on at Krispy Kreme, so we did a u-turn and treated ourselves to a dozen warm, glazed donuts. YUM!!!! Micah was so happy after his first bite. We even let Owen have a tiny taste, (they have milk in them) and he started giggling at how good they were. On Sunday after church, we were playing with the boys outside and were roasting, so Micah got to open his new sprinkler. It's a pretty neat contraption: you put the ball in the tube, it slides around to the bottom (like a gumball machine) and then pops up the center and the water keeps it spinning in the air for a few seconds. Micah was very impressed, although he was a little apprehensive. He insisted on holding Dada's hand before he would walk up it. Last night, we went to Grammy's house to check out the pool where Micah will have his party on Friday evening. Micah loves going up and down the steps, but we haven't quite worked up to getting all the way in yet.
